Since 1991, I have volunteered at Camp Carefree in Stokesdale, NC, which provides free, one week camping experiences for kids dealing with chronic illnesses, disabilities & other challenges. I started as a CIT, then counselor & lifeguard, & Core staff member in college.
Now as a Board Member, I serve as webmaster, help manage Camp's social presence, & also work with the media to cover stories about Camp to garner publicity & encourage fundraising. In addition, for 10+ years a friend & I have organized an annual Alumni Weekend for former campers who now, as adults, benefit from the freedom of Camp & the network of friends created here.
